DUSTIN NGUYEN

Shining Star Award

(Awarded to SASE National Volunteers of 5+ Years)

Dustin has dedicated more than five years of volunteering service as a National Volunteer, with positions ranging from Collegiate to National Committees. He has helped build and maintain relationships within his region to help support and foster communication between national and regional committees, even visiting local collegiate chapters and acting as a SASE advocate in the workplace to build awareness of SASE Professional and the value it provides. With Dustin’s SASE experience as a collegiate member and volunteer, he also took the initiative to develop a business case to rationalize increasing his company’s SASE sponsorship amount from a general career fair exhibitor to an Organizational Advisory Council member. Doing so has benefitted SASE holistically as an organization and provides diverse career opportunities to its collegiate members. Dustin also used his reputation as a high-performing SASE volunteer to help collegiate chapters build relationships with external organizations and help them build a bigger presence on their respective university campuses.

“During the 2021 National Conference planning cycle, Dustin was able to keep their volunteers motivated while converting the conference from in-person to virtual,” a nominator added. “Despite the short turnaround time, he was able to guide his volunteers in executing the contingency plan when it came time to convert the conference to a virtual event. Not only that, but he also made sure to recognize his volunteers so that their work did not go uncredited, and he used his experience as a former SASE chapter board member to give back to his former collegiate chapter and guide new chapters.”
