“Since our founding, SASE Drexel has been committed to growing our community and uplifting our membership through the three pillars of SASE. This year, we’ve seen incredible numbers, with 48 pairs in our mentorship program and a total of 50 events– almost two per week. 

We’ve strived to increase our presence and give back to our local communities: We volunteered 260 hours with local organizations like the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation and Small Things Philly, and we were able to fundraise $700 for Asian Americans United. To celebrate cultural diversity, we’ve sought to highlight and showcase more from differing cultures, with collaborations with our fellow Asian organizations on campus. We’ve thought outside the box with our professional events, seeking to create events that provide important skills and the knowledge to grow and succeed regarding topics such as wage negotiation, internship and job search experiences, senior design, and destigmatizing the discussion of failure. 

The key to our success and growth at SASE Drexel is attributed to our community. One of the most important aspects of any organization is its community; consider your membership, audience, and environment when planning events. Additionally, don’t be afraid to collaborate with other organizations, both on and off campus! Although we strive to provide opportunity and growth to our community, collaborations bring in new faces and ideas while also creating long-lasting connections with the different communities around us. 

With 327 active members, we place strong importance on creating a safe, welcoming environment for both new and old members, with plenty of opportunities to grow and learn.”
