SHARA SHRESTHA
Emerging Star Award
(Awarded to SASE National Volunteers of 1-2 Years)
Shara unfailingly gives time and energy to help complete tasks beyond what her position entails, always thinking of new ways to improve SASE’s brand through marketing and supporting other volunteers. With SASE always on her mind, it is a given that she will give her whole attention to SASE if you ask - and even when it is not asked of her! She goes above and beyond to support the regional and national teams, fostering the SASE Family community as a whole, and providing encouragement and motivation to every team she is a part of. When the Midwest Regional Conference looked like it may not happen due to unexpected circumstances, Shara took on the responsibility of making sure it did, knowing how vitally important it was for Midwest Region Chapter students, volunteers, and community.
She takes the time and care to understand the needs of her students and teammates, and she serves as a mentor to many students. Despite not holding a position that requires frequent interaction with the student chapters, Shara makes herself available to all students – even outside of her volunteer region – to guide them through whatever SASE-related issues they face.
Shara demonstrates leadership by leading with intentional guidance. In addition to the work she does for SASE, she gives that care and attention to every member she leads. She takes the time to work one-on-one with multiple team members to ensure they are comfortable with their tasks and are organized and focused with their goals and vision. She leads selflessly and creates a safe environment where honesty and friendships come easily.
