RECIPIENT - WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE
“The WPI Chapter of SASE has pushed the organization to new heights. With over 200 members, making up over 30% of the Asian population on campus, SASE WPI is one of the largest clubs on campus. Recently awarded with the Diversity Program of the Year by WPI alongside NSBE for our event, Elevate and Empower, SASE is dedicated to advocating toward aiding in minority success.
Our exponential growth is shown through our Mentor/Mentee Program, staying strong with over 100 participants this year, strengthening the bonds of our community and building a sense of connection to SASE as a whole.
Aside from mentorship, SASE WPI finds other ways to commemorate diversity, the most notable being one of our flagship events, SASE Sitdowns, a discussion-based event that encourages our members to engage in discussion at the intersection of our identity, academic, and professional career.
SASE WPI is dedicated to our local community, evident in our service and fundraising throughout the year. Recently, our members helped raise $17,000 for internationally displaced peoples in Burma during the Thingyan Water Festival, proving our commitment to Asian communities on the global scale.
Our chapter would not have been able to get this far without the dedication shown by countless members beyond those on the exec board. To our fellow chapters: always look for ways to give everyone in your organization a chance at demonstrating their commitment. Don’t take everything onto your own shoulders – use the talent and passion other individuals in your SASEfam have to allow your entire chapter to blossom.
The growth of our organization stems from the compassion and dedication that our members have, and we owe our success to every member of SASE WPI. We are incredibly proud of our accomplishments this year, and look forward to the promising future ahead."
HONORABLE MENTION - PURDUE UNIVERSITY
“2023-2024 was the year for the SASE Purdue chapter in terms of growth, improvement, and success. This past year, we saw an all-time record number of members, with over 250 registered students and overall retention right around 50 percent throughout events in our fall and spring semesters. For our mentorship program, we had over 100 members participating, nearly doubling what we had in the previous year. In sum, our chapter hosted 47 events, 17 of which were professional and technical events. We had five corporate sponsors, each of which did a professional and networking event with us. Finally, we held over 15 collaborative events within the Asian community and with other student organizations and programs at Purdue.
We would like to thank our members and community for the immense support that they have shown us.
Taking interest in what we do and embodying what it means to be a member of SASE is more than what we could have asked for. And to our incredible executive team that made this year so special and rewarding: Without all of their hard work and dedication, SASE Purdue would not be the organization that it is today. That team, combined with the love from our members, was the catalyst for all the success that SASE Purdue has seen. We could not imagine what we would have done if it weren’t for them. To SASE chapters, find the people and personalities that work with your goals; everything else will fall into place.
